29.March. It's been a good 1 year since we opened our doors. Thank you all for your support and love. We will continue to push the boundaries of serving better coffee which this city deserves. #PulpTurnsOne #pulpbyppp #papapalheta
"Situated in the Bangsar precinct, PULP is located in what used to be the cutting room of Art Printing Works, a historical printing factory. In this same cutting room was where raw paper was previously cut down to size before it goes through the printing process to end up as finished products like newsprints, magazines and books. The history of this site had a compelling story as there is a commonality between paper and coffee. While paper is derived from pulp, coffee has to depulped in order to extract the seeds from the cherry. The affinity of PULP is where we drew inspiration to pay tribute to the coffee cherry and space. PULP is Papa Palheta's flagship store in Malaysia. This store seeks to elevate the customer interaction of coffee brewing with its rotating and modular coffee bars. It also houses an array of coffee equipment to bring your retail experience to another level. With every component of PULP, Papa Palheta seeks to contribute to the vibrant city of Kuala Lumpur, whilst serving honest coffee and food. One is the baked eggs, which is surrounded by the most flavoursome spiced pork and spinach - truly one of the most delicious things I have eaten in KL. The Really Big Breakfast is another amazing meal. You will need to bring your appetite for this one though. It comes to the table on a wooden board and has bacon (pork), sausage, scrambled eggs, mushrooms, potatoes, spinach, baked beans, rocket and toast. All cooked to perfection. The last one (that we had today) was the avocado smash. Once again, beautifully prepared. The poached eggs sit on toast with a bed of smashed avocado, beetroot and tomato that combine with the feta and alfalfa in a mouthful of deliciousness. I need to make a quick mention of the honey latte to finish off this review. It is, by far, the BEST coffee we have found in KL. They do have a coffee called Best Drink Ever but in our opinion the Honey Latte is the superior coffee. Last but certainly not least - the service is exceptional. The staff go above and beyond and are very prompt with table turn arounds and getting your food served with such a wonderful demeanour. All in all Urban Daybreak in Bangsar is definitely one of the stand out cafes in KL and one of the cafes we return to again and again. I know, when I have to return to Sydney, the baked eggs will be something I will crave."
